: . ALBINO . :

The Kahl strain, originally founded by Peter Kahl, is the most widely spread of the known lines.
In 1983 a group of four newborn albino boas were, imported from Colombia. Three males and one female. It took six years for the boas grow to sexual maturity, but still the owners were unable to breed the boas, so one male was sold for 25,000.00$ to Peter kahl. At the end of 1989 the albino was put together with 6 wildtype females. In 1990 two of the six females produced the first offspring wich was heterozygous for the trait. In 1992 the first captive born albino boas were produced. The litter consisted of 22 babies, three of which were albino. All species of albinos are, and will allways be in high demand, as they are a key ingredient in many designer morphs such as snow and sunglow. Neonates are fairly white with well distinguished saddles, but the pattern fades with age and the color becoms more overall yellow keeping the orange markings on the tail.
The two strains, Kahl and Sharp, are incompatible (non allele). If animals from each strains is bred together the offspring will be heterozygous for both, but there will be no offspring showing the mautation in the litter.
Also known as tyrosinase-negative or amelanistic.
The albino mutation is a simple recessive color mutation.
